Dakari’s founder and creative visionary, Judy Maina, is currently serving as a judge for the Real Leather. Stay Different. Africa Talent Leather Design Showcase—a global initiative celebrating sustainable fashion and ethical leather craftsmanship across the continent.
Organized in collaboration with the Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) and the Leather & Hide Council of America (L&HCA), the showcase brings together emerging African designers presenting original creations made from at least 50% leather. The emphasis is clear: sustainability, innovation, and cultural relevance are at the heart of every design.
By joining the judging panel, Judy Maina is reinforcing Dakari’s commitment to empowering artisans, advancing circular fashion, and elevating African luxury. Her role involves reviewing designs that reflect not only aesthetic excellence but also a deep understanding of slow fashion and responsible production.
